Community Service Awards*
Since its founding in 1842, Ohio Wesleyan has had a strong commitment to community service with over eighty-five percent of our students involved in community service activities each year. To recognize entering students with strong backgrounds in this area, we offer Community-Service Awards each year. They are valued from $3,000 to $10,000 per year.
Dean's Awards*
Given by the Vice President of Strategic Communication and University Enrollment to outstanding applicants who do not qualify for Merit Scholarships, these four-year awards range in value from $3,000 to $16,000. Students must maintain a GPA of 2.75 by the end of their sophomore year to retain the award.
Diversity Awards*
In recognition of the importance of geographic, economic, and cultural diversity in our student body, these awards are made in the amount of $3,000 to $19,000.
The Godman Award*
Each OWU freshman who is an Ohio resident will receive an offer of $3,000-$15,000 per year called the Godman Award. Honoring Ohio Wesleyan's first graduate, William D. Godman, this financial initiative is designed to proudly recognize those students who are from Ohio and to address affordability issues.
OWU students who demonstrate additional need for financial assistance may also be eligible for supplemental funding.
Legacy Grants*
These grants are given to the children, step-children and grandchildren of Ohio Wesleyan alumni enrolling in the Class of 2011. This $10,000 annual award is in recognition of the special enthusiasm and dedication shown by this part of the Ohio Wesleyan family.
Ohio Academic Scholarships
Awarded by the state, these provide $2,205 annually to one student from each Ohio high school attending college in state.
Child/Spouse of Clergy Awards*
Child/Spouse of Clergy awards are given to dependent children and/or the spouse of an ordained minister (with benefit of pension) under appointment of a Bishop of the United Methodist Church, either in the local church or beyond the local church. This $10,000 annual award is not based on financial need, but if you are receiving other types of assistance, it will be incorporated in your aid package. This award is limited to full-time eligible students who are pursuing their first undergraduate degrees.
Student Choice Grants
Ohio residents attending Ohio's private colleges may be eligible for grants of approximately $900 per year, regardless of financial need. These Student Choice grants, established by the state legislature, will help close the gap between private and public educational costs.
*All scholarship recipients are required to be in good academic standing at all times. Students who are on probation may have their scholarship removed. |
